The SPOT

The SPOT
The SPOT is an innovative behavioral health and medical drop-in center designed to address health, social support and prevention needs of youth in the St. Louis region. The center offers a range of confidential services including: case management, mental health, substance abuse screening and counseling, psychiatry, medical and reproductive health care, and a drop-in space. Services are provided free of charge, in a youth-positive environment for all youth ages 13-24.

The SPOT @ Jennings High School (A School-Based Health Center)
The SPOT at Jennings is a comprehensive School-Based Health Center (SBHC) located in Jennings High School. The purpose of SBHCs is to keep youth healthy, in school and ready to learn. They are staffed and operated by a multi-disciplinary team of health and/or social service professionals with expertise in using a holistic approach to addressing the broad range, and often complex needs of youth. The SPOT at Jennings; also referred to throughout this application as the Jennings School-Based Health Center (JSBHC), is built on this model of providing integrated multi-disciplinary medical health, behavioral health and social services, in coordination with community partner organizations. The array of behavioral health services includes early intervention, assessment and referral to treatment of mental health and substance abuse issues, as well as case management and other psychosocial-related services that support the health and wellness of Jennings High School youth.

Our name is our mission: Supporting Positive Outcomes for Youth (SPOT). Youth partnering with community for social justice and health represents the vision for The SPOT. True to this vision, The SPOT welcomes ALL youth (13-24) and responds to their particular needs through a comprehensive model of health and social services. At the SPOT youth can: access health and prevention services, strive for positive educational and vocational outcomes, and have a voice and influence in their communities through leadership opportunities.
