Family Empowerment Program
The SLCN’s Family Empowerment Program provides holistic support for St. Louis County families with children ages 0-12 through a range of immediate and longer-term stabilization services. Programming is built around each family’s unique strengths, aiming to partner with parents in achieving the goals they have for their family. Families choose the level of intervention that is right for them:

• Crisis Intervention: Immediate support that provides basic need supplies, help navigating crisis situations, and direct connection to additional community resources.
• Family Stabilization: Longer term programming that partners with families to achieve greater stability and wellbeing, working toward goals related to finding & maintaining safe housing, living wage employment & childcare, learning new parenting skills, and improving mental health.

All services are voluntary and confidential, available in home, in the community, or via phone.

Respite Care Services
The Saint Louis Crisis Nursery’s emergency respite care program offers wrap-round support for families during times of crisis. We know the responsibility of parenting can be overwhelming, especially when families are facing a crisis without the support or resources they need. The Crisis Nursery’s five 24/7/365 locations offer a safe, nurturing, home-like environment, where children ages 0-12 years old can stay during a family emergency or when their caregivers need time to regroup.

All services are completely free, voluntary, and family-focused. Children stay at the Nursery short term, usually 2-3 days, and have access to a range of services on site to support healthy development, including: medical care, developmental assessments, occupational therapy, and expressive therapies. Parents are connected with a designated case manager to partner with them in meeting immediate goals for their family and accessing community resources while their children are being cared for at the Nursery.
