Kathy J. Weinman Shelter
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Violence Prevention studies, there is a strong link between youth who witness domestic violence and those children growing up to perpetrate or tolerate abuse in their adult life. In an effort to mitigate the impact of these adverse childhood experiences (ACE's), the work at the Kathy J. Weinman Shelter for Victims of Domestic Violence (KJW), is designed to provide a safe haven for victims and specific interventions for each family served. The Kathy J. Weinman Shelter has a comprehensive program for youth in conjunction with their parents to help them process and cope with the aftermath of intimate partner violence.
