St. Louis ArtWorks
Youth Apprenticeship Program
St. Louis ArtWorks provides underserved youth ages 14-19 with paid apprenticeships in the arts. Each Apprentice participates in daily behavioral health training designed to increase artistic skills, vocational knowledge, and emotional well-being. Program components include art therapy, life skills, work readiness training, communication skills, and community collaborations. Art is an integral tool used at ArtWorks to create a richer and more impactful learning experience. Each piece of the program helps to inform participants of strategies to manage barriers such as poverty, high-mobility, and involvement in juvenile justice systems and ultimately be self-sufficient adults. Through a variety of arts-based prevention services, with a scaffold of behavioral health support, ArtWorks has a proven track record of improving the overall well-being of its youth participants.
