Nurse-Family Partnership
Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is an evidence-based nurse home visiting program that focuses on supporting new mothers and their children. Evidence indicates that the NFP leads in providing some of the most significant outcomes for investment among all prevention-based programs. NFP's strategy is to partner specially trained registered nurses with families who are becoming parents for the first time, starting early in pregnancy (before 29 weeks gestational age) and continuing visits until the child's second birthday. NFP is often cited as the most effective intervention to prevent child abuse and neglect, along with improving pregnancy outcomes, economic self-sufficiency of the family, and improving child health and development.
