Children’s Advocacy Services

Forensic Services
The forensic team at Children's Advocacy Services of Greater St. Louis (CASGSL) is part of a multidisciplinary team of professionals responsible for the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases in St. Louis County. Our highly trained staff conduct fact-finding/child-sensitive forensic interviews, provide advocacy & support for the child's non-offending caregiver, and connect children and families to medical, mental health and other community services. The investigative team (following a report of sexual abuse, physical abuse, sexual exploitation and/or in the event a child has witnessed a violent crime) makes the initial request for forensic services.

Trauma Informed System of Care
CASGSL offers counseling to children and adolescents who have experienced trauma, including sexual abuse, physical abuse, domestic violence, community violence, neglect, serious accidents, natural disasters, or traumatic loss. CASGSL also offers treatment for children and adolescents with problematic sexual behavior. Evidence-based practices include Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention, Integrated Treatment for Complex Trauma, Alternatives for Families-A Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Child Parent Psychotherapy, and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. Therapy is provided on an outpatient basis at three locations: on the UMSL campus, in Kirkwood, and in the Central West End. Evening and weekend appointments are available.
