CASA of St. Louis
Description
Fostering Resilience and Connections
CASA of St. Louis has a 45-year history of serving children in foster care in St. Louis. As officers of the court, our highly trained CASA volunteers advocate for children and youth ages 0-19 who are before the courts as a result of abuse or neglect. With support from our staff, CASA volunteers facilitate a collaborative relationship between all parties involved. Our advocacy helps children heal from trauma, progress in school, participate in childhood activities, and plan for the future. Judges trust and rely upon CASA of St. Louis to inform decision making and service delivery. In 2025, with the dedication of 312 CASA volunteers, we provided best interest advocacy for 502 children placed in foster care. Research has found that children and youth with a CASA advocate tend to perform better academically and behaviorally in school, and report significantly higher levels of hope. Services provided by CASA volunteers include: build trusting relationships, gather information about a child’s needs and strengths, advocate for services and support, and help ensure progress toward safety, well-being, and a permanent home. Children are referred to CASA by professionals involved in their care, including case managers, educators, and caregivers. Following referral, a judge may appoint a CASA volunteer to the child’s case based on program capacity and volunteer availability.
