Karyn Spory serves as the communications director for the St. Louis County Children’s Service Fund.
Karyn’s background is in journalism, graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a bachelor’s degree in electronic media in 2011. Following graduation, Karyn worked as a newspaper reporter across the Midwest before settling in Southeast Iowa. There, she worked her way from reporter to editor at the Mt. Pleasant News. In 2018, Karyn became the managing editor of both the Mt. Pleasant News and the Washington Evening Journal. The following year, Karyn helped design and launch a new regional publication, The Southeast Iowa Union.
Karyn is thrilled to bring the skills she’s built over the course of her journalism career to CSF to help promote the organization and the impact of its $550 million investments in local nonprofits and governmental agencies to provide mental and behavioral health services for youth in the county.
As a recent transplant, Karyn is excited to explore St. Louis and see what the city has to offer. Outside of work, Karyn enjoys spending time with friends, family and her puppy, Rufio. She also enjoys listening to podcasts, trying new restaurants and kayaking.
